This $12.3 million design-build concrete pavement preservation project is located in Erskine, MN. MnDOT’s project scope required the removal and replacement of approximately 5.5 miles of TH 2 mainline pavement. Through the Alternative Technical Concept (ATC) process, the PCi Team received approval to construct an Unbonded Concrete Overlay (UBOL) through the rural portions of the project, significantly reducing the amount of existing concrete pavement removal required. Additional project elements included UBOL of the TH 59 interchange, reconstruction of approximately 1850 feet of concrete median, closed drainage system replacement, two bridge rehabilitations, guardrail replacement, truck weigh station pavement rehabilitation, permanent traffic facility improvements, environmental compliance, and Maintenance of Traffic (MOT). Alliant Engineering served as the PCi Team’s prime designer and performed all project design scope.
