At Alliant, we know that every project starts and ends with survey.

Our team of professionals provides the data needed, from establishing boundaries for new communities to preparing final plats upon completion. Their attention to detail and commitment to providing accurate information for roadway projects ensure that designs can move to construction. As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, during National Surveyors Week, we want to thank our surveyors for the value they bring to our industry and to Alliant.

Clayton Walley, Vice President of Florida Land Survey, wrote the message below to thank our survey team and the profession he is proud to be part of.

“For me, being a surveyor has always been a point of pride, to be a member of a group of individuals that, throughout history, has been part of building the world we know today. The use of land surveying methods and techniques is present in Göbeklitepe, the world’s oldest standing structure, to subdivisions and sports stadiums being built today.

Several prominent Founding Fathers and early Presidents of the United States were surveyors. There is even a monument in Black Hills, South Dakota, that has three surveyors and some other guy carved into the mountain.

Most of us are learned blue-collar workers; we are part historian, detective, frontiersman, and adventurer. We have worked 1000 feet deep in the ground to several hundred feet above it, we have waded through swamps, trudged through mud, endured extreme weather, and walked tens of miles in the course of a day (some of us wearing boots most folks would throw away). Our families have endured long periods of time without us while we traverse the country and sometimes the world.

Being a surveyor makes me proud, but being around the group of surveyors we have here at Alliant makes me the proudest I have ever been to be a surveyor. The things that our surveyors have accomplished over the years are no small feat. From Minnesota to Florida and hopefully soon Utah, surveyors at Alliant are making our mark in history.

Happy National Surveyors Week to all of you. Thank you for your dedication to our profession and tenacity to keep doing it every day!”

Setting the boundary, creating the future.

Thanks to Clayton’s dedication to Alliant’s survey department, the Mayor of Jacksonville, Florida, Donna Deegan, has officially declared March 15 – 21 as Surveyors Week in Jacksonville. The signed proclamation will hang proudly in our Jacksonville office as a reminder of the work our crews do every day to live out our mission of building better communities.
