Landscape architecture plays a critical role in shaping how communities function and connect.
Thoughtfully designed public spaces provide access to green infrastructure, improve walkability, support environmental resilience, and create meaningful places for people to gather. In Florida especially, where outdoor spaces are used year-round, landscape architecture has the ability to strengthen civic identity while enhancing both social and environmental value.

From Corridor to Community Space
Stowe Avenue Plaza in Orange Park, Florida, reflects that mindset. The conceptual transformation reimagines the corridor as a pedestrian-focused environment through a partial roadway closure, creating space for a vibrant public plaza anchored by a shade pavilion, enhanced landscaping, and improved parking. The design introduces flexible gathering areas, integrated walkways, and seating elements that activate the streetscape, support adjacent businesses, and foster community interaction — reinforcing a stronger sense of place for the town.

As lead designer, Ashley partnered closely with the town staff to bring their vision to life, thoughtfully blending natural elements into the built environment. The project will energize the area with weekly bandshell performances and opportunities for markets and gatherings, creating a destination that brings new life to the community.
