Alliant partnered with Metro Transit to provide traffic analysis for the proposed METRO F Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), the sixth addition to the growing BRT network.
Designed to replace Route 10—one of Minnesota’s top five bus routes based on annual ridership—the Metro F Line aims to enhance transit efficiency and accessibility. VISSIM was used to analyze traffic and transit impacts at 36 intersections along TH 47, TH 65, and 3rd Avenue in Minneapolis, Columbia Heights, Hilltop, and Fridley. Baseline conditions were analyzed and compared to various build alternatives, and coordination with the MnDOT TH 47/TH 65 Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) study allowed for the integration of additional alternatives. To support stakeholder engagement, concept rendering drawings of potential station locations and 3D renderings of the preferred station concepts were designed. Graphics and illustrations were used to communicate with agency stakeholders, helping to facilitate informed decision-making. The traffic evaluation identified the optimal location of BRT transit stops to minimize the impact on mobility while improving transit service, reinforcing Alliant’s commitment to designing smarter, more effective transit systems.
