Alliant makes Canopy Project donation in honor of Arbor Day

April 28, 2017

We are celebrating Arbor Day with a donation of one tree per employee to The Canopy Project. The Canopy Project empowers people to conserve, repair and restore tree cover to their lands.

“Arbor Day is one day every year that reminds us to think about everything trees do for us,” said Mitzi Dillingham, Human Resources Director. Trees are hard workers and they provide a wide range of benefits.

“It’s easy to see trees and other landscape improvements as being only cosmetic. But a well-designed plan provides many quantifiable benefits,” said John Gronhovd, Landscape Architect Graduate.

Benefits of incorporating trees into your landscape
  • Preventing soil erosion
  • Reducing noise pollution
  • Reducing heat island effect
  • Reducing energy costs
  • Improving air quality
  • Improving architectural qualities such as screening unwanted views or framing desirable ones
