Urban Partnership Agreement (UPA) Transit Technologies

Metro Transit was awarded Federal Funding through the Urban Partnership Agreement (UPA) to design and deploy ITS Transit Technologies throughout the system. The Real-Time Signs project deployed nearly 100 DMS which provide transit vehicle departure information to patrons in real-time. Additionally, the project provides an audible announcement system that provides the same departure information to members of the ADA and elderly communities.

Alliant was responsible for all communications design which included a combination of wired and wireless communications; fiber optic cable comprised a significant amount of the wired communications system. We were also responsible for several project management tasks on the project including issue tracking, preparing the project schedule and weekly updates, and preparing and monitoring the Project Risk Response Plan. Alliant prepared Test Plans for the system as well as documentation for the ongoing operations and maintenance of the system once fully deployed.
