This $7.6 million project designed and constructed a grade-separated interchange at the intersection of TH 52 and CSAH 9. The existing intersection experienced a high crash rate including multiple fatalities. Largely driven by the need to improve safety, the project included the installation of a quadrant interchange and access management improvements on TH 52. Major elements of the project included the construction of a bridge for CSAH 9 over TH 52, construction of two new loop ramps on new alignment, construction of two exit/turn lanes from TH 52, extensive stormwater management, relocation of drain tile, utility coordination, and bituminous paving. Mathiowetz was the prime contractor. Alliant was the lead design firm and was responsible for all design management, engineering, environmental compliance, and design quality assurance on the project.
