2007 Summer Picnic
Alliant Engineering, Inc. held its annual company picnic this year at Hyland Lake Park Reserve. With more than 1,000 acres of mature woodlands and a breathtaking prairie, Hyland Lake Park Reserve is located in the heart of Bloomington and is one of the most popular year-round recreation spots in the southern metro area.
The picnic took place at one of the many reserved shelters which offered an enclosed space to cool off to enjoy eats and good conversation in the balmy 93 degree day!
Planned activities for employees and their family members included a tug of war, egg toss, volleyball and an impromptu water balloon war to fight off the heat! Additional activities offered to interested families were water sports and tandem biking rentals. Special activities planned for the little ones included – a nature hunt that took eager little legs around the park searching for clues and an awesome hula hoop contest!
Many of our “little picnic goers” also got the change to enjoy the “Creative play area” located just to the north of the visitor center. This play area is an award-winning 16,000 square-foot area that is equipped with various components for climbing and sliding. There also is a 1,500 square-foot accessible play area with sliding, swinging and climbing equipment designed to accommodate children less than five years of age.
This year, Alliant provided the meat and beverages while the employees brought in their favorite appetizers, main dishes and desserts. The day concluded with several prizes giveaways for those that attended including two $100 gift certificates from local retail merchants.
All in all, despite the heat, the day was glorious providing an abundance of fun and sun for all!
