Principal / Project Manager – Transportation
Tom joined Alliant in 2003. He has over 16 years of experience working on large-scale and fast-paced highway design projects. Tom primarily focuses on project management, preliminary and final roadway design, construction support, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). He has personally signed construction plans totaling $297 million of construction in just the last four years. Tom is highly experienced in both design-bid-build and design-build contracting methods.
Tom is known for delivering high quality design plans on aggressive schedules. Over the course of his career, he has been intimately involved in nine design-build projects, serving as the design-lead and/or design manager on seven of them. He is always in pursuit of the next innovative solution for Alliant’s clients. He enjoys researching new methodologies and integrating new technologies into the design process. Tom values mentoring and training others so that Alliant’s project partners receive the best possible product. Outside of Alliant, he works with college students at local academic institutions to provide valuable and relevant work based learning opportunities prior to graduation.
Tom became an engineer to make our community a better place. He actively participates in several professional organizations including American Council of Engineering Companies of Minnesota (ACEC/MN), Minnesota Surveyors and Engineers Society (MSES) and is a past president of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Minnesota. Outside of work, there is a good chance you will find him playing catch with his son, coordinating a dance party with his daughter, enjoying dinner with his wife of nearly two decades, or rolling down a back-country road with the top down.
